Future technology and how it will influence the transport industry took the spotlight in discussions held at the recent Driving Excellence Conference, hosted by Isotrak and Verilocation at Silverstone in Northampton. Amongst the presentations, Mercedes introduced their urban area concept van, the Vision Van, a fully electric vehicle with automated cargo space and on-board drones that is planned to revolutionise last mile delivery.The rise of data in modern telematics, electric and autonomous vehicles and the impact of Brexit dominated discussions led by the panel, comprising Ed Cowell, CEO of Fraikin, Gordon MacDonald, Head of Policy from the DVSA, Tim Blakemore, Managing Editor of CV Engineer, Ricky McFarland, Head of Mercedes Van Sales, Andrew Overton, Isotrak Group Technology Director & CEO of Verilocation and Jim Sumner, Chairman of Isotrak Group.

In addition, Andrew Overton, Isotrak Group Technology Director unveiled Verilocation’s eagerly anticipated TMS system, as well as Isotrak’s new ePod product that has just completed six-month user trials with a major European operator.
