Future technology and how it will influence the transport industry took the spotlight in discussions held at the recent Driving Excellence Conference, hosted by Isotrak and Verilocation at Silverstone in Northampton.
Amongst the presentations, Mercedes introduced their urban area concept van, the Vision Van, a fully electric vehicle with automated cargo space and on-board drones that is planned to revolutionise last mile delivery.
The rise of data in modern telematics, electric and autonomous vehicles and the impact of Brexit dominated discussions led by the panel, comprising Ed Cowell, CEO of Fraikin, Gordon MacDonald, Head of Policy from the DVSA, Tim Blakemore, Managing Editor of CV Engineer, Ricky McFarland, Head of Mercedes Van Sales, Andrew Overton, Isotrak Group Technology Director & CEO of Verilocation and Jim Sumner, Chairman of Isotrak Group.
“The panel discussion was really well received by attendees, who were able to interact with the debate by submitting questions via their mobile phones” said Sumner. “The conference was also a great opportunity for us to update our customers on the successful merger of the Isotrak and Verilocation businesses.”
Mr Sumner continued: “With over 500 customers and in excess of 60,000 connections internationally we are uniquely placed to serve both major corporate customers and SME fleets with our Isotrak and Verilocation brands. There is no doubt our customers are also recognising the outstanding service we are providing, reflected in our best in class Net Promoter Scores, an area in which a number of our key competitors are falling well behind.”
In addition, Andrew Overton, Isotrak Group Technology Director unveiled Verilocation’s eagerly anticipated TMS system, as well as Isotrak’s new ePod product that has just completed six-month user trials with a major European operator. Overton commented on these significant developments and plans ahead: “With our combined expertise, experience and clear vision across both brands, we are now the obvious technology leader in our sector.”
“We have been overwhelmed by the level of attendance and positive feedback received by delegates for our first joint event together,” said Helena Ferraro, Group Marketing Manager. “Silverstone was a fantastic venue to launch our combined companies as the technology leaders in our industry and we are looking forward to an even bigger industry event next year.”
